Andrew, mom, and I ventured out for a tremendously interesting (and beautiful) trip to Chateau de Chillion, Monteaux, and Lausanne. The highlight was definitely the Chateau, which was quite historic and with picture perfect beauty. It is hard to imagine a better setting for the castle, as it sits on a rocky island jutting out into Lake Geneva. Across the lake, the snow covered Alps drop directly down into the lake while on the near side cliffs shoot up as well.
We took a train followed by a boat across the Lake to get to the castle, which provided a unique approach. The castle had a fantastic audio tour, and we spent a lot of time exploring. With such a picturesque setting, we snapped a ton of pictures. We could not have asked for a better day in terms of weather. We would definitely recommend it as a fun, informative, and beautiful day trip!
As we made our way back to Geneva, we stopped for lunch in Montreux and did a walking tour of Lausanne. Both were worthwhile, but didn't match Chateau de Chillion.
Tomorrow we are headed high up into the alps-- to Gimmelwald. I have little idea of what to expect, but it is supposed to be absolutely phenomenal. We want to offer another HUGE thanks to our wonderful hosts--Aaron, Catherine, Mackenzie, and Zachary.
I have had many comments about the lack of pictures of me. If you continue reading, there will be 4 weeks of pictures of me, so I am really trying to get shots of mom and Andrew.
One final shout out to the Haslett girls soccer team for their big win and shutout of East Lansing--keep it up MC!
